Grisaille Painting
This is the mandatory first course in oil painting; students may begin this course after successful completion of Cast Drawing.
Students gain control of the medium using a limited palette, working from a cast. Emphasis is placed on attaining drawing proficiency with paint and rendering the form to achieve a strong illusionistic effect. Grisaille painting is an important prerequisite for the complexities of painting in colour.
Peinture en Grisaille
Ce cours obligatoire est un préalable à tous nos cours de peinture à l’huile. Les étudiants peuvent suivre ce cours après avoir réussi le cours de dessin d’après sculptures.
Les étudiants apprennent à maîtriser ce médium avec une palette de couleurs restreinte et en travaillant d’après sculpture. L’accent est mis sur la capacité à dessiner avec la peinture et à travailler ce médium afin d’obtenir un effet de volume frappant. La grisaille est une base essentielle qu’il faut posséder pour pouvoir aborder ensuite la complexité de la peinture en couleur.
