Historical Techniques of Drawing

Benham   Mannella   Benham                              

Different approaches to mark-making are explored in this course. Hatching techniques are introduced, emphasizing the relationship between marks and form. A demonstration on making sized paper suitable for a variety of drawing media is included in this course. Silverpoint, red chalk, pen & ink, and mixed media are included in this course.

Students will complete this course in 4 weeks.

Hours: One day per week, Wednesday through Sunday, 10:30am to 5:30pm

Optional: 2 week printmaking session: Drypoint engraving

Students design and engrave a plate, and make multiple impressions on paper using the atelier's printing press.
