Constructive Anatomy I : the figure

Benham   Benham

This course features a sketch-based method of constructing figures from the imagination. Students will learn various constructions for the anatomy of the human body to facilitate drawing active figures from imagination. We will discuss proportions of the figure, creating a sense of action or momentum in the body, and techniques for working up a composition from an initial sketch through a complete figure.

This segment focuses on the human body; Constructive Anatomy II focuses specifically on the head, although they can be taken in either order.

Prerequesites: It is necessary to take Cast Drawing, some Life Drawing, and Anatomical Drawing before taking this class.

Hours: One day per week, 10:30am to 5:30pm, with an hour break for lunch.

Students complete this course in 4 weeks.
